Understanding New and Wrap
New
You start with a blank account with the template of your choosing applied, then build out your content from scratch.
Once your content is ready, you’ll contact Support to complete the go-live form. This option is ideal if you want to start fresh and ensure all content is current and up to date.
We would suggest this option if you are changing out multiple top navigation categories from what you currently have in place.
Please note: Once the new account is built, you will have 30 days for revisions.
Clone/Wrap
Think of this like moving into a house: at a designated date and time, we move all of your existing belongings (pages, images, videos, and other content) into a new account, then apply the new design around it (like repainting the outside of the house a different color). Once everything is moved, you can reorganize and adjust the content to fit your needs (reordering pages, creating new homepage content, etc.).
This cloned account serves as a staging environment where changes can be made before going live on your primary domain.
Your homepage will be replaced with temporary filler content (the original homepage will be archived and available in Site Manager, but not on the live site), and your main navigation will be updated to reflect the new structure. All existing content will still be present.
Because the website clone can only be done once as part of the implementation fee (to have it done again is an additional fee), this option is best if you’re ready to make updates in a relatively short timeframe. Your old account will remain accessible for 6 months before it is then deleted.
Please note: Once your site is cloned and the new design has been applied, you will have up to 30 days for revisions. Once the design is approved and you are released from design, we will automatically take your new site live 30 days from that date, unless you request to go sooner.
New vs. Wrap — Quick Comparison
Starting Point
- New: Blank account with your chosen template
- Wrap: One-time clone of your existing site with the new design applied
Content
- New: Content is built from scratch (existing content can be copied over manually if needed)
- Wrap: Existing pages, images, videos, and tools are retained
Design Approach
- New: Fully fresh build with complete flexibility
- Wrap: New design applied to your current content
Sitemap & Navigation
- New: Easier to create a new sitemap and navigation from a clean slate
- Wrap: Existing structure carries over, with updates made during clean-up
Content Review
- New: Ideal for reviewing and updating older content (3+ years)
- Wrap: Focuses on cleaning up existing content rather than rebuilding it
Time Investment
- New: More time-intensive due to manual content creation
- Wrap: Typically faster; most customers complete clean-up in about one day
Live Site Impact
- New: No impact on your current site until you choose to go live
- Wrap: Work is done in a staging environment and launched when ready. Once all revisions are complete, and you have approved your design and are released from design, you will have 30 days from the approval or release date to take your new design live. You can also choose to go live sooner by filling out this go-live form.
Best Fit For
- New: Teams looking for a fresh start and a full content overhaul
- Wrap: Teams wanting to preserve content and minimize rebuild effort
Potential Considerations
- New: Requires more time and internal resources
- Wrap: Requires dedicated time for content clean-up, especially on older sites
Going Live After your Clone/Wrap OR New Account
- After your clone/wrap OR the new design has been applied to a new account, you will have 30 days to complete any revisions.
